Sienna is the Best Big Sister

Sienna has been AMAZING with Elena. While not overly worried about Elena joining the family, we were curious about Sienna's reaction. We suspected she would be a bit jealous, especially about sharing her daddy. That was not the case.

When we brought Elena home from the hospital, I walked in with the baby in the car seat and Joe was behind me with a gift for Sienna. Sienna couldn't care less about the gift and the second she saw me she started asking, "baby? baby?" I put Elena down in front of her and Sienna reached into the car seat and tried to take the baby out. I couldn't get her unfastened and on Sienna's lap fast enough. Sienna just kept smiling and saying "HI BABY!" Then I tried to put Elena in the pack n' play so Joe could help her open her present. Big mistake. Sienna started bawling for the baby. Then a few hours later (after much time spent holding and talking to Elena) I put Sienna down for her nap. She woke up after just an hour crying and screaming, "BABY!" She was terrified that the baby wouldn't be there anymore and wouldn't calm down until Elena was on her lap again.

In the mornings we always bring Sienna into bed with us for about 10 minutes. Just while we all warm up to waking up. So the first morning when Joe went to get her and I had Elena in bed with us already, I wasn't sure how she would react. She lit up and wanted to lay down next to Baby.

When she goes to my mom's for the night she doesn't ask for Mama or Dada anymore. She asks for Baby.

Clearly, she is in love with her little sister. And over 3 weeks later, it hasn't dimmed much. She knows that her Sissy (her new word for Elena) will always be here so she doesn't exclaim over her quite so much, but she still loves to hold and talk to her. And she truly loves sharing Mama and Dada with her. We are such lucky parents to have such a sweet older daughter and calm quiet younger one in our home.

*About the picture. I thought my mom was in the room with the two of them and she thought I was. So when I walked in and saw Sienna was unsupervised with Elena, I got nervous. But when I looked closer, this is what I saw. Thank goodness my camera was out and ready for use so I could capture this sincere photo of Sienna loving her Sissy.*

Monday Dreaming

I'm going to be very cliche. A full night's rest. Nights are not Elena's strength.

So it's my due date...

...and this happened 3 weeks ago.
Time is flying.

Elena is in the:
6 percentile for weight
21 percentile for length
and 4 percentile for head size
Grow baby Grow!

With Sienna it was 4 weeks before I could fit into my pants.
I didn't think it could be any faster.
I was wrong.
In one week I could fit into half of my pants and in a little over two weeks they all fit again.
Crazy how quickly the body can change!

The house is all decorated.
I did have to re-do the tree after Sienna went down though.
She put all the blue ornaments together, then all the red, and so forth.
While very exact, it wasn't appealing to the eye...

Elena slept in her room last night.
It was AMAZING.
She is just too loud to sleep next to.
I got a little CD player and had some piano masterpieces keep her company.
She went down at 10pm and only woke up at midnight, 3:30am, and for good at 7:30am.
I am so happy right now.

Joe is going to Phoenix for a fly back today.
I'm going crazy with jealousy.
Warm weather,
3 undisturbed nights of rest,
and a Suns basketball game.
That whole pressure filled days of interviewing is a minor drawback for me though.
But GOOD LUCK JOE!
I am mostly excited, and just partly jealous...

I haven't seen any new Christmas CD's for our annual purchase.
Anyone have any suggestions?
